About Ma'at Design
Design assessment and research platform powered by local AI.
Why Ma'at Design instead of raw AI models?
While general AI models like ChatGPT or Claude are incredibly powerful, using them effectively for UI/UX design research usually requires extensive manual labor: painstakingly crafting complex prompts, constantly copying text, and taking dozens of manual screenshots of long web pages to upload.
Ma'at Design automates this entire product research pipeline:
- Automated Vision Context: Just drop in a URL. Our custom scraper extracts the clean page text, blocks irrelevant scripts, and simulates a browser scroll to capture sequential viewport screenshots. It passes the complete visual map directly to vision-capable models (like LLaVA).
- Pre-Engineered Specializations: You don't have to write prompts. We utilize specialized instruction sets based strictly on established industry standards (such as Nielsen's 10 usability heuristics and WCAG compliance audits) to keep the AI focused as a specialized design inspector.
- Specialized Workflows: Whether you're running a competitive feature matrix, auditing visual hierarchy, or auto-generating robust user personas purely based on landing page context, Ma'at scales your UX research workflows out-of-the-box.
100% Privacy-First & Local
Your data never leaves your machine.Unlike other cloud-based AI tools, Ma'at Design is built around the modern privacy-first paradigm.
When you use local AI providers like Ollama or LM Studio, the entire evaluation process—including web scraping, screenshot capture, and machine learning inference—happens directly in your browser and on your local device.
- No telemetry or hidden tracking.
- Your API keys to external platforms (if you choose to use Anthropic/DeepSeek) are stored solely in your browser's local storage.
- Generated reports are only stored in your browser, and you can download them directly to your computer as Markdown.
Why the name "Ma'at"?
In Ancient Egyptian mythology, Ma'at is the concept of truth, balance, order, harmony, and justice. She was personified as a goddess who regulated the stars, seasons, and the actions of mortals.
The ultimate test of a soul was the Weighing of the Heart, where a heart was measured against the feather of Ma'at to evaluate its purity and truth.
We chose the name Ma'at because a great user interface is essentially an exercise in balance and harmony. Our tool helps you "weigh" and assess the quality of modern product design against the gold standards of heuristics, visual harmony, and accessibility, searching for that perfect balance.
